
Virtual reality initiative to educate travellers on use of DigiYatra app | Delhi News – Times of India
New Delhi: A virtual reality initiative to educate travellers on how to use the DigiYatra mobile application has been launched at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) stated on Friday.
The initiative, which is available to both passengers and non-passengers, will provide travellers lessons on how to register themselves on DigiYatra. Travellers can use a digital identity, such as an e-boarding pass or a biometric identifier, to check-in to their flights and go through security and immigration at the airport.
The app was launched by the Centre on December 1. The app will help in making the process of air travel convenient and efficient for passengers by using technology to streamline various aspects of the journey. The use of face recognition technology ensures faster mobility of passengers to boarding gates, hassle-free travel, enhanced security, dedicated gates, while being completely contactless.
The virtual reality initiative will be available to travellers from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm at no cost at gate number 2 of T3. DIAL will provide VR headsets along with a joystick. Keeping in mind Covid-19 protocols, measures have been taken to ensure that the VR equipment is sanitised constantly.
DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said, “We have launched DigiYatra to use technology to give an immersive experience to all and provide passengers with a more convenient, enjoyable and stress-free travel experience.”
Users will have to download the DigiYatra app on their phones and register using their Aadhar-linked mobile number. Once registered, users will be asked to link their credentials using DigiLocker or offline Aadhaar. The users will then have to take a selfie and upload it. Finally, they will be asked to update their boarding pass and share it with the departure airport.
