Los Alamos, New Mexico (AP) — Beware of drone pilots.

Authorities at one of the country’s leading nuclear weapons laboratories warned on Monday that the airspace of the Los Alamos National Laboratory was off limits.

The Los Alamos National Laboratory, the birthplace of the atomic bomb, reported that a recent unauthorized drone flight was detected in the restricted airspace of the region.

Authorities said that if you fly the drone over the lab, you are likely to lose it.

“UAS (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System) can be detected and tracked. In the event of a threat, you can disrupt control of the system, take control or exercise control, disable UAS, damage it, or Reasonable forces can be confiscated or used to destroy them, “said Unica Viramontes, Senior Director of Lab Security.

The lab cited security protocols and did not provide details on how the system works. They also do not say how many unauthorized flights have occurred in the last few months.

Lab officials also said pilots must stay outside the lab’s restricted airspace and additional drone-prohibited areas designated by the Federal Aviation Administration, “collateral for regular commercial or enthusiast drone flights. Warned about the possibility of “interception”.

According to the FAA, drones are prohibited from flying in areas designated as national security-friendly facilities. With the exception of military bases and other Pentagon sites, restrictions are placed on certain critical infrastructures such as national landmarks and nuclear power plants.
