I have had my trusty switch ever since it launched back in 2017, it took me months to get and I only had BOTW for the longest time but I loved it. I poured HOURS of my life into Zelda and then finally got Mario Odyssey, I loved it too…The Switch did for me what Nintendo had not been able to do since the N64, it constantly surprised me with beautiful and entertaining games, so when they announced the OLED I was excited!
Come launch though, I couldn’t justify the 350 bucks…. Switch games were beautiful, but not in that realistic 4k way, the drift issue made its presence known in every pair I had, I got a PS5 as a gift it just wasn’t meant to be, especially with the threat of the Switch 2.0 or whatever comes next looming on the horizon.
Aaaaand then it happened, they finally announced ToTK, there’s still no new console in sight, there’s a new bundle, and the nostalgia of what has already been 6 years settled in….I forked over the money, prepaid for a Zelda bundle and am excited to play Zelda again on a new console technically again.
That OG switch and Zelda got me through some rough times, 2017 was a low point for me in so many ways and yet I always felt so good playing…. I guess I’m now excited to feel that same excitement with a new game at much better point in my life. OLED, ToTK please live up to the hype, you got some big shoes to fill.
PS: any tips for a new OLED owner? any games I should definitely revisit?
Thanks for hearing me out!
