
India City Uses Polygon Blockchain to Manage Public Complaints | BitcoinDynamic.com
The police department of the Indian city of Firozabad has announced a plan to use the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain to file public complaints. According to the department, the initiative is part of the process of accelerating the resolution of citizens’ complaints. The system will deploy the OxPolygon modular blockchain, as the network has a tamper-proof system that does not interfere with claims.
As reported by the department, once a complaint is registered on the platform, the blockchain generates a unique code for the case. Then, the police station closest to the complaint area will have a special QR code that will direct complaints to the form. Then, after submitting the complaint, the system generates a First Information Report (FIR). Finally, if the police determine that an official investigation is necessary, the case proceeds and the system is updated.
“Using emerging technologies like blockchain, we launched a pilot portal that is free and dedicated to the city. The benefit of using blockchain is that registered complaints cannot be tampered with. That is, the recorded data is immutable and transparent,” said Ashish Tiwari of the Indian Police Service.
Blockchain in India
The complaints system was developed by Ankur Rakhi Sinha, founder of AirChains. The company is a Web3 software development platform. Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal said the new system should eliminate cases of corruption. Meanwhile, Nailwal, an Indian citizen, noted that the system will be vital in dealing with rape cases.
“We grew up hearing so many cases where, due to some corruption in a local police department, victims (mostly of rapes) are not able to file complaints, or the complaints are being handled…” Nailwal said in a tweet on Feb. October.
It is worth noting that Polygon has so far received several use cases in administration across India. The government of Maharastra, for example, announced the use of the network to issue verifiable caste certificates.
