Incident at Jersey Shore High School basketball game condemned by administration
An incident which occurred at a Jersey Shore Area School District athletic event Tuesday night was condemned by the administration in a message sent to parents the next day.
“I want you to know that I find the behavior in the video deplorable and assure you that it is being dealt with appropriately,” wrote Dr. Brian Ulmer, superintendent.
“The district is taking every precaution to be sure that no one else is subjected to behavior like this in the future,” he added.
Videos circulating on the internet reportedly show evidence of a young man being restrained by an adult male using his arm around the younger person’s neck.
The email sent to parents by Ulmer also stated, “I am reaching our as your Superintendent to share that the district is aware of an incident between a staff member and spectator at an athletic event last evening. Today the administration team and I spent time investigating it and collaborating with Lycoming Regional Police.”
“I understand that there are videos that are circulating on social media of this incident. This situation is being handled as a personnel issue and the district cannot divulge specifics,” Ulmer continued.
When contacted later in the week, Ulmer reiterated that “unfortunately, I cannot comment since this is a personnel matter.”
It has been confirmed that Lycoming Regional Police are investigating the incident.
