HTC is expected to unveil its new Vive Flow VR headset on Thursday, but we may already have an idea of what it looks like, thanks to images posted by prolific leaker Evan Pale.

the first batch of images Blass posted on Twitter appears to show the headset with a wired connection to another device, perhaps something portable like a phone or tablet.

The images also appear to show the device with goggle-shaped temples covering the ears, rather than the strap found on other virtual reality headsets that stretches around the wearer’s head.

The headphones in the images bear a striking resemblance to Project Proton, an all-new mixed reality headset concept that HTC introduced in February 2020. CNET’s Scott Stein suggested at the time that the slimmer, goggle-like variation of the Vive would be a standalone headset, a headset connected to a phone, or both.

The Proton, according to HTC CEO Yves Maitre, is part of Vive’s goal to evolve into a headset more like a pair of glasses.

HTC did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but we should know more about their plans on Thursday, following an event featuring the tagline Go with the flow. The event begins at 8 am PT and will be broadcast live on Vive.com and in virtual reality.

The images also appear to show the device with goggle-shaped temples covering the ears, rather than the strap found on other virtual reality headsets that stretches around the wearer’s head.
