Gambit Esports still unbeaten at ESL Pro League Season 14

Unbeaten Gambit Esports remained atop Group D with a sweep of FURIA Esports in Friday’s action at the ESL Pro League Season 14 event.

Team Liquid (2-1) and Ninjas in Pyjamas (2-1) swept Entropiq and Team oNe, respectively, to remain just behind Gambit (3-0) with two more days of round-robin groupplay remaining.

NiP opened play with a 16-11 win on Nuke and a 19-15 decision on Overpass against winless Team oNe (0-3). Nicolai “device” Reedtz of Denmark tallied a team-high 54 kills for Ninja and matched Sweden’s Nicolas “Plopski” Gonzalez Zamora with a plus-12 kills-to-deaths differential. Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa of Guatemala led oNe with 56 kills and a plus-8 differential.

Liquid defeated Entropiq (1-2) by identical 16-12 scores on Vertigo and Overpass. Canadian Keith “NAF” Markovic paced Liquid with 56 kills and a plus-24 differential, while Alexey “NickelBack” Trofimov of Russia logged 43 kills and a plus-4 ratio for Entropiq.

Gambit capped the day’s action by smashing FURIA (1-2) with a 16-8 win on Inferno and a 16-5 victory on Vertigo. Kazakhstan’s Abay “Hobbit” Khasenov delivered 40 kills and a plus-23 differential for the winners. Brazilian Yuri “yuurih” Santos topped FURIA with 25 kills and a minus-5 ratio.

The 24-team Counter-Strike: Global Offensive league is broken into four groups for the round-robin opening round. The winner of each group advances to the playoff quarterfinals, while the second- and third-place teams in each group qualify for the playoffs’ Round of 12.

All matches are best-of-three until the playoff final on Sept. 12, which will be best-of-five. The championship team will earn $175,000 from a $750,000 prize pool. The runner-up will receive $60,000.

The first three groups already concluded their round robins. Heroic won Group A, with Team Vitality and ENCE claiming second and third, respectively. In Group B, the top three were OG, forZe and Complexity Gaming. Natus Vincere prevailed in Group C with mousesports and Fnatic emerging for the second and third berths.
