Covid-19 cases continue to drop in Tamil Nadu | Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: Fresh cases of Covid-19 continued to drop in Tamil Nadu on Thursday when the state added 235 cases compared to 244 new cases on Wednesday, 244 on Tuesday and 271 on Monday.
The active cases meanwhile went below the 4,000-mark for the second day to 3,692 after the state discharged 408 people from the state registry. The state registry had a cumulative toll tally of 38,048 since March 2020.
The highest number of cases were reported from Chennai (57) followed by Chengalpet (21), Coimbatore (115), Kanyakumari (13),


(12), Krishnagiri (11) and ten each in Virudhunagar and Tirunelveli. Six districts -Kallakurichi, Karur, Madurai, Nagapattinam, Perambalur and Tirupattur – reported zero new cases.
Twenty-five districts reported cases in single districts and among these six districts Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Ramanathapuram, Tenkasi, Theni and Vellore reported one new case each.
While Chennai reported 1,898 active cases, Chengalpet had 169 and Coimbatore reported 161 patients in isolation. Tirupattur had four patients in isolation, least in the state. Of the 252 patients admitted to hospitals across the state 104 were in oxygen beds and 33 were in the ICU.
