5G+ “Beidou” dream combination boost smart city construction

In ancient times, the Big Dipper set the direction, distinguish the four seasons and determine the time. Today, the Big Dipper sets the location, navigation and timing. Today, with the application of “Beidou” technology, more and more intelligent connected vehicle applications such as unmanned buses, unmanned taxis, unmanned sales vehicles, unmanned food delivery vehicles and unmanned sweeper vehicles have appeared in cities. When “Beidou” collides with 5G, what kind of spark will be generated, and what kind of convenient and fast city will be built? Let’s find out.

5G unmanned buses will be operated regularly to create a small expert in urban traffic environment

In the 5G era, more and more technology applications that once only existed in science fiction movies are being realized around us, and driverless cars are just one of them. Suzhou, which has a good environment for the Internet of vehicles industry, has become the first city-level 5G Internet of vehicles application project base in China. Suzhou Branch of China Mobile Jiangsu Corporation and China Mobile Shanghai Industrial Research Institute jointly set up the “Suzhou Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center”. Relying on 5G+ Beidou positioning system, the Suzhou Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center will promote the coordinated construction of 5G new infrastructure and vehicles in the Yangtze River Delta region, and create city-level applications of 5G vehicle networking.

It is understood that Suzhou Mobile, together with the local government, has completed the reconstruction of 5G intelligent network connected roads in Suzhou high-speed Railway New City, totaling 63.4 kilometers to Xiangcheng Avenue in the east, G524 national Road in the west, Tai Dong Road in the north and Li Tai Road in the south. A total of 50 intelligent multi-sensor junctions have been built by intersection unit. The construction of 5G intelligent connected roads and intelligent intersections makes it possible to apply a variety of 5G intelligent connected vehicles. Suzhou has the largest coverage of 5G unmanned bus project on open roads in China and the first city in China to operate 5G unmanned buses regularly.

It has nine passenger seats and one driver’s seat, a 32-inch smart screen that allows passengers to view the station, and even the most basic mirrors are equipped with high-definition cameras. 5G unmanned buses will pass through the convention center, shopping center, high-speed rail station, subway station and commercial office building in Suzhou’s high-speed new City. Relying on the speed transmission of 5G signals, sensors outside the vehicle will transmit the road status in real time to the computer of the unmanned bus, and then generate various accurate instructions. It has the functions of pedestrian and vehicle avoidance, automatic lane change, automatic steering, traffic light recognition and so on, and can also deal with all kinds of complex urban traffic scenes.

Smart taxi approaching the public life, unmanned taxi era is coming

The sight of a driverless taxi on a busy road, responding to a phone call, is hardly out of the movies.

The 5G driverless taxi is equipped with sensors, 5G vehicle-road cooperation and other equipment, and three visual screens in the car display the current driving status, speed, operation planning and other information of the vehicle. At the same time, with the support of the vehicle-road collaborative platform and the low-delay features of 5G, vehicles can obtain real-time road condition information to solve the impact of object occlusion, rain and snow weather on driving sight, and effectively improve driving safety, comfort and traffic efficiency. After switching to “autopilot” mode, the steering wheel will automatically turn and accelerate and decelerate according to the actual road conditions. It is reported that 100 unmanned taxis are expected to run on designated roads in Xiangcheng District, Suzhou.

5G driverless cars will make city life easier

Nowadays, more and more 5 g the vending car appear in the busy streets, people just waved in front of the car and was driving automatic vending car will automatically stop, citizens can choose food through the body transparent window, through the mobile phone body qr code scanning order, payment after the success door opens automatically, can complete pickup, whole journey without human intervention.

5G unmanned sales vehicles carry out scene sensing and security control through laser, vision, millimeter wave and other radars. In combination with 5G network, scene data can be sent back to the cloud processing system in real time. Combined with unionPay payment solution, innovative application scenarios of unmanned retail vehicles, stopping with wave and self-purchase can be created. Based on mobile 5G communication and connected autonomous driving technology, it can realize automatic driving of vehicles, pedestrian recognition, dynamic obstacle avoidance, regional dynamic speed limit, traffic signal passage, beyond visual range, dynamic vehicle scheduling and other scenarios. With 5G, the unmanned vehicle can “see six ways and hear all directions” and make instant decisions, realizing “think what you think and do what you want”.

5G unmanned food delivery trucks to make city life smarter

In suzhou’s new high-speed rail city, you will see unmanned food trucks full of food moving forward. The “little guy” can carry a maximum weight of 500kg and can carry more than 100 takeaway meals such as coffee, milk tea and lunch boxes at a time.

China Mobile has helped build a driverless food delivery truck with lidar, cameras and ultrasonic probes. Customers only need to open the wechat mini program to place an order, and the unmanned food delivery truck will pick up the goods according to the planned route. Merchants also open the unmanned food delivery truck through the mini program and put the food into the designated grid, which can be delivered in about half an hour. Unmanned dining car adopts modular design, customized according to demand, can have refrigeration, heat preservation and other functions, to ensure the appearance, taste and freshness of food. Through the 5G network in the park, the operator can collect the vehicle status remotely and in real time, and quickly give work instructions to the operating vehicle and dispatch the vehicle, further improving the work efficiency.

5G unmanned sanitation vehicle, to help “urban beautician” reduce the burden

Have you ever met the “tireless” “sanitation messenger”? A blue car in the non-motor vehicle road slowly moving, two huge yellow brush in front of the uniform speed of rotation, wherever he went, leaves, paper and other garbage have a sweep and clean, through the bottom of the vehicle inhalation of garbage savings space…… This is how an unmanned sanitation vehicle cleans the road. Fifth generation self-driving intelligent sanitation cleaning the car, a mature autonomous cleaning system, can from the manual operation, independent on the road cleaning, water spraying, garbage collection, classification, etc., have automatic wake-up, parking, automatic dumping function independently, not only improve the cleaning efficiency, reduces the labor costs, but also make the roads clean more intelligent, more secure.

The unmanned cleaning fleet is equipped with China Mobile 5G terminal. Based on 5G network, the road environment is monitored remotely. The operator can control up to 10 cleaning vehicles at the same time in the control center, which greatly reduces the delay, increases the safety of unmanned driving and improves work efficiency.

At present, the trend of “unmanned driving” with electrification, intelligence and network connection is giving birth to the “revolution on the road”, in which 5G plays an important role as a “starter”. China Mobile 5G unmanned car family will also integrate into thousands of industries and play a greater role.
