23 Best Fall and Winter 2022 Accessory Trends: Gloves, Earrings, Chokers, and More
When it comes to the fall and winter accessory and jewelry trends, piled-on looks have taken on a whole new meaning. From double belts to multi-connected rings, heavy looks have taken precedence over the daintier aesthetics of spring and summer.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that smaller details aren’t still exceedingly popular. Chokers have made their way to the forefront of fashion once more, with the trend of glittering crystals often used to create a decadent appeal. Along with this, there is the continuing rise of pearl core that has captivated designers over the past couple of seasons.
And so, it seems that as spring and summer fade out, and winter falls in (pun completely intended), daintier styles in accessories and jewelry will give way to the bold and beautiful. Given that jewelry could be considered more of a novelty than something functional – though, to be fair, the trend of neckties won’t provide that much warmth – designers tended to give us statement pieces rather than any overtly wintery items. But when it comes to creating fashionable looks simply with a few accessories and outerwear, you’re more than covered.
Heavy on the Jewels
#1. Sculpted Encore
In the last few seasons, sculpted pieces à la Schiaparelli have become the ultimate status symbol. Sophisticated and classic, these metallic pieces will certainly give something to talk about. Perhaps a bit on the bulky side, this is a jewelry trend that you’ll want to stack up on (both when dressing and when buying). If you’re interested in collared necklaces, Louis Vuitton will fulfill your need, but when it comes to surrealist bangles, Loewe will make your day.

#2. Statement Oversized Earrings
The bigger, the better is certainly a true sentiment for this accessory trend! Dripping ornamental earrings that grazed shoulders were obsessively popular, and while we will all have hopefully quit Zoom by fall and winter, long, chunky earrings will still draw attention if you remain doing anything virtual. So, reach to Gucci, Moschino, Ninamounah, Ndigo, or GCDS for some true statement earrings that you can cherish forever.

#3. Mixed Metals
Following the chic appearance of sculpted metal pieces comes the always-needed trend of mixed metals. Whether in the form of layering different jewelry tones with each other or following Lanvin’s way of finding a multi-tone earring set, this is a sophisticated and modern trend that designers are adoring.

#4. Single Earrings
While it’s quite clear this season that many designers aren’t following the ‘less is more’ strategy with either their jewelry or clothes, it seems that Isabel Marant, Christian Cowan, and Givenchy all (at least partially) jumped on the minimal jewelry route by making their earrings one-sided. The lovely thing about this edgy accessory trend is that it’s perfect if you’ve got a missing earring from a pair!

#5. Bangles
This section isn’t about walking like an Egyptian (someone, please get the reference) but rather the cuff style of bracelet that is single-handedly bringing the fashion world to its knees. Whether worn in mixed stacks like at Saint Laurent, highly polished like at Chloe, or a bit edgier such as at Balmain, this is a bracelet look that any fashion girl will be forced to embrace by the end of the year.

#6. Over the Ear
Ear cuffs jumped up a level according to the fall 2022 jewelry trends, turning into full ear-covering jewelry. There were all kinds of dramatic designs surrounding the ears at Prabal Gurung, including a vintage piece made of pearls and a chunky crystal, as well as at Christian Cowan, Bronx and Banco, Dolce & Gabbana, and Sacai, where fascinating multi-hoop creations extended around the ear in a futuristic effect. Things were a little simpler at Fendi with logo cuffs simply placed directly over the ears.

#7. Chunky Rings
Perfect for nightlife or the office, chunky rings give a bit of pizazz to any otherwise-boring outfit. So, while I wouldn’t cast aside all of your dainty rings, veering towards chunkier and more elaborate options is an excellent choice. However, if you’re looking to purchase something newer, then take a cue from designers such as Dior, Givenchy, Saint Laurent, and Hermes and layer up on rings that are hooked to multiple fingers.

#8. Hoopla
Hoops have yet to and most likely never will go out of style. Simplistic and elegant, this style of earring has recurred throughout many runways. So, if you still haven’t gotten your fix on hoop earrings and are interested in investing in a few more pairs, head to designers from Gucci to Chloe for some timeless options.

#9. Pearls and Pearls
The birthstone of June and one of my favorite stones of all time, I’m ecstatic to announce that pearl core is continuing! Giving a bit of a vintage flair to many collections, large pearls were used in collections such as Erdem, Givenchy, and Simone Rocha. Just don’t expect to see these stones used in a grandma manner because with the pearl mania that has ensued the past couple of seasons, it’s been anything but. Think of the oversized chokers and chunky bangles with embedded pearls that are coating style stars recently if you don’t believe me.

#10. Shining Bright
It’s time to talk about the crystal craze that is taking over the runways. Elaborate, detailed, and rhinestone-coated jewelry is coming about as a mainstay for the upcoming season. Giving a slight hint of the flamboyance of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, glitter jewelry from Miu Miu, Oscar de la Renta, or Carolina Herrera will be the perfect addition to any party outfit you put on come fall.

#11. Choke Me
With the rise of the 2014 Tumblr aesthetic comes the reappearance of chokers. Sitting high up on the neck, this jewelry trend was featured at runway shows from Chanel to Versace, often with multi-layered strands. So, whether you invest in a new one or break out your old favorites, it’s time for those chokers to see the light of day once more!

#12. Semi-Circle Metallic Chokers
Alongside “traditional” choker designs, the runways also unveiled futuristic semi-circle chokers that looked out of this world and chic. From Stella McCartney to Moschino to Yuhan Wang, sculpted metallic golden chokers elevated day-to-day and party-ready looks. Prada unveiled the most creative version, though, where a semi-circle choker wrapped the models’ necklines, extending the shoulder and blending in with the clothing pieces.

#13. Y2K
Considering that low-slung jeans, pink hues, and other Y2K looks are still on the rise, it can’t come as much of a shock that lucite bangles, bulky rings, and other 2000s jewelry trends are popping up along the runways. Bottega Veneta and Missoni both highlighted the look in their collections, but the ultimate crowning glory resided at Miu Miu with a beaded floral style choker. Paris Hilton would definitely approve!

#14. Southwestern
From Ulla Johnson to Etro, small Southwestern details made their way into the fall/winter 2022-2023 jewelry and accessory trends. Often shown in the combination of silver and turquoise with intricate designs, these accessories will give any outfit an added bit of flair. And with the shoe trend of cowboy boots, it’s certainly time to start practicing horseback riding and book some tickets to New Mexico!

#15. Charmed, Darling
A way to keep your favorite memories with you at all times, charm bracelets are an accessory trend on the rise. Perfect to wear for any occasion, many designers embraced the chaotically sweet look. Ulla Johnson may have taken the assumed route for these bracelets, but at Fendi, Kim Jones branched out and attached miniature purse charms to the clothes. How delicate and exciting!

#16. Flowers
On nearly every runway (and on nearly every trend report), there is some mention of flowers for this fall/winter 2022-2023. Yet, having the petals fall into the accessory trends is a look that makes sense, considering that before jewelry even existed, flowers would have been used as an adornment. Soft floral details can be found in Roberto Cavalli and Jil Sanders collections, but if you want to mix in the sculptural element, then head to Loewe.

#17. Fringe
Swinging details are reigning supreme with jewelry, bags, and even a few belts showing off strands of various stones and threads. A tasteful and eclectic look, this is something to get excited about come fall. And if you have some hidden source for getting your hands on the fall collections now, head to Isabel Marant, Philosophy de Lorenzo Serafini, or No. 21 for the ultimate fringe pieces.

“Accessorizing Separates Us from the Animals”
#18. Neck and Neck
Falling in trend with the academic looks that are gracing the runways, neckties are an accessory that designers couldn’t stay away from. Traditionally used for men, this accessory has officially broken gender barriers and might have become even more popular when styled for women! This look seems to have been more popular on the European runways, with Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Kenzo leading the way.

#19. Oh, So Classic
If you’ve read any other previous trend reports I’ve written for Glowsly, then you’ll probably know that if there is one trend I adore, it’s scarves. Reminiscent of the golden age of Hollywood, sophisticated neck scarves certainly caught designers’ eyes. Loosely wrapped at Chanel, the scarf gave off an almost nautical approach to dressing. However, both Vivienne Westwood and Miu Miu went with a more tightened and preppy take.

#20. Chained up
Body chains might be crucial to hot girl summer, but when it comes to fit girl fall, it seems that they’ll be staying in place. From Altuzarra to Bronx and Banco, beaded belly chains took precedence with many outfits. So, if you were planning on packing up those sexy little jewels come the turn of the season, take my advice and just don’t.

#21. Doubled up
Designers have declared that one belt is simply not enough, and thus next season, you’ll be doubled up in the pleasure of wearing multiple! Giving way to an almost grunge look, many styles of strappy leather belts were used in both tops and pants to create an eclectic appearance. If you’re trying to figure out how to lean into this trend, then head to Miu Miu, Peter Do, Collina Strada, or even Diesel for a bit of inspiration.

#22. Gloved
Gloves are a staple when it comes to the colder months of the year, and because of this, it seems that we have been blessed with an array of options. From knit gloves at Fendi to the classic leather gloves at Christian Siriano, there are going to be plenty of different styles to keep your hands warm. And that’s without even bringing up Dior’s leather gloves reminiscent of a falconer’s!

#23. Razzle-Dazzle!
What came first; the how-to bedazzle your own socks tutorials on social media or the trending styles on the fall runways? Truly, I’m not sure. But whatever entered our site lines first, this is a look to get excited about because designers such as Simone Rocha, Chanel, and Hermes all embraced this accessory trend.
